Discover why there’s such a buzz around this chic new Wichita wedding venue
Recently, I was asked to put together a styled shoot at The Winslet | Luxury Wedding Venue, the new & elegant wedding spot. A place that just sounds chic, right? The Winslet. So, I was sold before I even saw the place! When I did see some pictures, and finally visit the venue, I was blown away by how luxurious, and bright it was. A heavenly destination to stroll around, and somewhere I’d be more than happily tie the knot in!
An Experienced Wedding Team at The Winslet
Before we get onto the shoot though, you need a little backstory on The Winslet. Because this isn’t some new fly-by-night Wichita wedding venue with no experience in running events. No, the team behind The Winslet already have four other hugely successful wedding venues in Kansas City – The Abbott, The Bardot, The Harlow, and Cherry Hall. With another coming soon in Iowa! So rest assured, these guys know what they’re doing when it comes to weddings.
Each of the wedding venues created by Abbot Events are designed to reflect their location, and the building they are in. But they all have one thing in common, they’re super stylish! Out of all of them though, The Winslet is my favorite. A wedding venue that offers just a little more elegance than your average Wichita wedding venue. Its striking decoration provides the most stunning backdrop to every big day moment. While the natural light that beams in from the many huge framed glass windows gifts every space a vibrancy that, as a wedding photographer in Wichita, I am constantly searching for.
Exchange Your Vows Inside or Out
The inside of The Winslet (named after Kate, by the way, in case you were wondering), is gorgeous, there’s no doubt. But this Wichita wedding venue is designed to be multipurpose, and enjoyed both inside and out. Meaning you have the option to exchange nuptials in their intimate chapel, with its wooden beams and hanging chandeliers. Or, you can tie the knot out on their charming courtyard, under the sweet vine-covered pergola, looking out over the lake. It’s stunning, and I love the fact that really, I can’t decide which ceremony space I prefer more!
A Luxury Wedding Experience Throughout
When photographing this styled shoot, we were free to explore the many rooms, and celebration spaces at this Wichita wedding venue. And there’s so many cool little places to hang out in-between the major wedding events of the day. Like the in-house bar for example, a chic little 1920s style area that is ideal for cocktail hour, or for intimate catch-ups away from the main party. And for you guys, the marrying couple, you are blessed with two sweet spots to get-ready in, and chill. There’s the billiards room, a distinctly darker designed space with leather couches, high stools and an antique style billiards table. A place you could totally imagine sipping a few pre-nuptials whiskey’s in! And the bridal suite, an equally sophisticated room, decked out luxuriously with everything you’ll need to enjoy preparing for the day.
Ok, so you’ve tied the knot, taken your portraits out in the gardens, and sipped a couple of cocktails either inside, by the bar, or out on the courtyard. Now what? It’s time to toast those vows! And at The Winslet, their main ballroom is just perfect for that. It’s not the largest wedding venue in Wichita, but with a capacity of up to 200 guests, that’s about right for a lot of couples. The room feels spacious, and that is thanks again to the large amounts of natural light pouring through the giant windows that flank the room. And when the light fades, there are some super elegant glass chandeliers above that’ll give your celebrations a stunning glow. Space-wise, there’s room for twenty-two guest tables, bridal party tables, food/dessert stations, and a dance floor. What more could you need?
